~ Our Hearts Go Out ~

I have actually had a few attempts at writing this blog post but each time the words I write just don't seem adequate enough to paint a picture of the horror that has beset our State over the past weeks. Queensland has been hit by massive floods with 18 people dead and 14 still missing. Brisbane the States, capital which is 100 kms from where we live has been devastated! We are very fortunate that our family has all been safe with no damage to property but thousands of people have not been so lucky. The resilience of the people of Queensland has been inspiring and although the damage will take years to rebuild the Lord Mayor said today that Brisbane's 'heart is beating again'. Our hearts go out to all those thousands of people affected by this tragedy.

  2. Glad you're ok. We're following the desaster up there with disbelief and often tears in our eyes. Our heart goes out to all that are effected from this terrible flood as well.

  7. Yes Chrissie, it is a very frightening thing to see and now NSW and Victoria are also experiencing major flooding as well. At this time of the year we are usually on Bushfire watch so it is very unusual.

  9. It's truly so heartbreaking after seeing so much of it on the tv. We've had a mini version of it in country Victoria. After years of drought and now this. I knew you'd be ok, knowing what area you live in, but thankful nonetheless that you are.

  10. Not being very familiar (sorry) with the layout of Australia, I have been thinking of both you and Ms Jane...I am so relieved to hear that you both are safe and sound. But, my heart and prayers go out to all those people and animals that have been affected by the terrible floods! Nature is certainly can be harsh at times...

    In our thoughts and prayers,
    Terri
