~ More Framing ~

When I recently had the birth sampler framed, I also had this framed. I stitched it several years back and still love it.

"The Drawn Thread's ~ Cloister Garden"

If I remember correctly I think I have stitched it on lambswool linen with NPI silk thread. To me it is such a 'gentle piece'.

I still have another of the gardens to frame ~ the companion piece "Wildflower Garden" but it can wait for another time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog and for the lovely comments.

"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth."
~Dorothy Frances Gurney, "Garden Thoughts"

  1. Very beautiful. The framing suits the stitched piece just perfect. I agree with you that it is a gentle piece. Peaceful comes to mind when looking at it.

  2. What a beautiful piece and I love the frame. Isn't it nice to get something so pretty at the end that you can hang in your home and enjoy?

I love that verse you included in your post. Someone sent that to me last year when he found out I love gardening. That would be a lovely verse in a sampler I think!

  3. This is lovely Chrissie and I'm going to be seeing it for real in a few weeks :o)) I hope it doesn't make me want to stitch all the Drawn Thread gardens - or maybe I do.

  4. Beautiful, Chrissie! It is such a soft, gentle piece and the framing is perfect for it. I have Wildflower & Alpine Gardens stitched and need to do the rest in the series.

  8. The matting and framing suits this piece so well, Chrissie! I'd go back to this framer if I was you - what a great job. A lovely piece of needlework to treasure for years to come.

(I've just had a look at the picture close up and that's the exact same frame I used for SB Millennium Child - it's such a beautiful frame. http://picasaweb.google.com/sheepie04/SBMillenniumChild#)
